Selection into FACEM Training – Prospective Applicant Information Session
ACEM will be running two information sessions via Zoom, for doctors who are thinking of applying for selection into the FACEM Training Program during the 2024 and 2025 application rounds.
Each 60-minute session will provide information on the following:
Session 2: Tuesday 16 July 2024 at 2:00pm AEST.
While all prospective applicants are welcome to apply, spots are limited and preference for the sessions will be provided to those wishing to apply in 2024 and 2025. These sessions will not be recorded.

trainees are encouraged to attend at least one SIM course per year.
Out of pocket cost $5 per session
ideally participants have over 12 months crit care experience
Team response to airway crisis
(TRAC) TRAC provides participants from critical care specialties with a shared template for the management of the unanticipated difficult airway. Along with practising the technical skills necessary for advanced airway management, participants will explore the human factors skills vital for effective team performance. • TRAC uses a blended learning approach to improve airway planning and intubation skills. The program incorporates videos, discussions, clinical workshops and simulation to explore the topics of rapid sequence induction (RSI) and non-surgical and surgical techniques to safely manage the unanticipated difficult airway. Acute cardiovascular Emergencies (ACE)
Topics included in the course are: • Vascular access and line insertion • CPR, defibrillation and advanced cardiac life support • External pacing As well as the technical knowledge and skill required to manage complex cardiac events, ACE emphasizes the importance of human factors skills; such as leadership, teamwork, and effective communication, which are known to contribute to improved patient safety.
