Casey Emergency
Casey Hospital is a 229 bed hospital, located 43 Km (25 min) from Melbourne CBD and services the rapidly expanding SE suburbs of Melbourne. It is one of the fastest growing EDs in Australia.
Casey offers a range of specialty services, including General medicine, general Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Mental health , Rehabilitation and ambulatory care services.
Casey Hospital is expanding to total of 355 inpatient beds, including 12 ICU, Interventional suits and 24 hour surgery
The Emergency Department is accredited for 12 months of advanced training with available rotations inside the Hospital including anaesthetics, Paediatrics, General Medicine and Psychiatry. ICU rotations will be available once the ICU becomes operational. Being part of Monash HealthCaset sees diversity in workload, patients from th ecity and country and all pathology that comes with low health literacy and sociodemographic status network, other rotations such as Toxicology can also be offered to trainees.

We are an incredibly ethnically diversion consultant group, proud of the support we give to our trainees and junior staff.
We are excited to see the expansion of the services which is aimed cater for the ever increasing number and acuity of our presentation.
There is an estimated 10% increase in ED presentation every year. Last year we saw 70,000 patients (22000 paediatrics). planning is underway for expanding ED making Casey one of the most modern EDs in Victoria.
currently we have 3 resuscitation areas (including a behavioural assessment room), 20 main cubicles and 6 clinic cubicle areas, including a Procedure and Plaster room. Currently we have 16 adult short stay beds.
Paediatrics make up 30% of our presentations and our overall admission rate is about 30%.
Our ED is staffed with 20 EFT enthusiastic consultants who are present for 16+ hours per day and available on call overnight.
Monash Health has strong focus on education and we have dedicated teaching for different levels of training (specially for PE and FE preparation). within our department there are consultants with special interest in Ultrasound, Simulation, Toxicology, Research and Hyperbaric medicine
